Canadian Heart And Soul.

It appears that Iggy is off to England to show his Canadian credentials to Europe. You know, he is going to trumpet how great Canada is because he has been there for what...five years now? He is going to pledge his undying love of.....?????? Right. The guy needs to understand Canadians and he is off to Europe to find that one proud Canadian with a flag on their backpack.

Liberals talk about Canadian values like they are the only ones who know what they are, but they forget about the Canadian heart and soul that makes our country great.

Our heart and soul is those farmers who toil night and day to get food to our tables.
Our heart and soul is those volunteers who donate their time to causes that actually help people live a better life.
Our heart and soul is reflected in the First Nations people who keep their traditions while integrating them into Canadian society.
Our heart and soul beats strongly when one of our hockey teams might win the Stanley cup. (Come on boys, surely one Canadian team can win it back!!)

Our heart and soul is our land. I can not picture Iggy or his wife planting a veggie garden and tending it with love. I can not feel any connection to Iggy and our land. I am talking about Canada here, I am talking about the soil, the earth, the water, the wildlife that make Canada home. I get no sense of home from Iggy. No sense of what makes Canada great. No sense of understanding that Canadians are about the land, the beauty and the inspiration the land brings to your very soul.

While lefties protest at the G20, chanting "the whole world is watching", they leave me cold, they have no cause, they are juveniles coming out of their basements to protest their inability to adjust to real life. They are the misfits of society. If they really wanted to help the poor people of Africa, they would go there and help, but lefties are good at protesting, and very bad at actually doing anything to fix the problems.

The Canadian heart and soul is our land. Those who can feel it, and protect it are the real Canadians. The land has a pulse, you need to stop and listen to it. This land is alive, and Canadians need to keep it that way. We need to be careful of who we put in government, on ALL levels, because one bad decision can suck the air out of the land and leave it desolate.

It is up to Canadians to make sure we protect what makes us Canadian, our vast and diverse land.

Why Alberta Won't Separate.

Right now the western separation movement is quiet because we have a Conservative government. If a coalition forms, expect the west to rise up in protest. I wonder if we will be allowed to break windows like the G20 protesters. Funny how protesters are not a symbol of freedom of speech anymore.

Why Alberta Won't Separate? Simple.....

That's right, the Queen. Albertans are deeply patriotic and our ties to the Queen are very important to us. I know that's not very "progressive" but tradition is important. It's not just Conservatives in Alberta who support the monarchy, other provinces do as well. The difference is that Quebec uses the monarchy as a reason to separate, while Alberta is kept back because they love the tradition so much.

I am glad to see our Queen visiting Canadians. It will be great to have her here for Canada Day.

Can You Feel The Hate?

Wendy

Since when did Harper care about millions of people suffering. Harper only cares about his own political interests. He showed a complete lack of empathy when he broke his word and destroyed the savings of a couple of million seniors who believed him when he said he would protect our savings in Income Trusts. Where was his care and consideration on Halloween 2006? Seems he only cares on the world stage...the expensive world stage with the fake lake. For Harper it's all about polls and that elusive majority.

Kim

Harper knows how to be decisive, he's proven that in the past, remember how he walked away from the 5 billion dollars the Americans owed us, he just gave it to them (decisively) in the softwood lumber dispute...( we could sure use that money now)

Sue

Stevie stevie stevie, are you not the same guy in Oct/08 didn't see a recession was coming. Took us from $13 billion in the black. To now last count, before this $1.1 billion summit, just for security costs, was $56 billion in the red in only two short years. If these G20 guys have any senses they will be running in the other direction. I want my money back.

Mary

Harper is unbelievable. Under his "leadership" (or lack thereof) our deficit has never been bigger. What is he talking about? what an idiot. Is he just hoping to make massive cuts in Canada and pretend its required under terms of the summit. We really need a leader with a brain for a change.

I wonder if Wendy/Kim/Sue/Mary are all the same wacky wonders? Could it be post-abortion disorder? Or are these Harper Haters that stupid? I wonder when the human rights commissions are going to clamp down on these idiots. Oh, right they probably work for them.

Are most Canadians listening? Nope. I watched no TV this weekend, and only had time to read the blogging tories for a few minutes. I was out enjoying the beautiful weather, and pulling weeds from my eco-garden. I think Wendy/Kim/Sue/Mary need to get all their various personalities together, and get out of their parents basement.

If the left had a clue, they would get on PM Harper for his talk about a global economy. The G8/G20 was marred by violence, and all protesters are going to be tarred by the same brush, but their should welcome that, after all their are all about the collective, not the individual.

What Are They Protesting???

I want to know what those idiots are actually protesting. I saw the destruction, for destruction's sake, I saw the windows being shattered, but most importantly, I heard the supposedly peaceful protesters cheering with each shattering window.

At least the protesters during the Olympics shut down because of the terrorists, but it seems that Toronto just doesn't have the same level of class. It appears that the 1 billion is worth it.

I want to see the police making some arrests. I want the courts to uphold those arrests and not just slap them on the wrist and send them home.

I want a list of everything they are protesting so I can boycott any business they support.

What are they protesting? With the burning of police cars, we are seeing the European thugs arrive on our shores. The most stunning video, http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20100626/summit-protests-100626/was when a guy tried to make a citizens arrest and the supposedly "peaceful" protesters swarmed him and made him let the guy go. That is the state of our democracy. Smashing windows and looting is okay because you have a cause.
You are
I still don't have a clue what they were protesting. Maybe they should clarify

Friday Night Funnies: Fridays I Play Golf!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are 30, or older, you might think this is hilarious!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning.... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways… yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car... We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it!

There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOD !!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-finks!

And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!

And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores!

And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were lucky, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place!

See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980 or any time before!

Regards,
The Over 30 Crowd

Anyway!

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he

Tax his car,

Find other ways

Tax all he has
Then let him know

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,

The Knob

A woman visited a plastic surgeon who told her about a new procedure called 'The Knob,' where a small knob is placed at the top of the woman's head and could be turned to tighten up her skin and produce the effect of a brand new face-lift. Of course, the woman wanted 'The Knob.'

Over the course of the years, the woman tightened the knob, and the effects were wonderful, the woman remained young looking and vibrant.

After fifteen years, the woman returned to the surgeon with two problems.

'All these years, everything has been working just fine. I've had to turn the knob many times and I've always loved the results. But now I've developed two annoying problems: Firstly, I have these terrible bags under my eyes and the knob won't get rid of them.'

The doctor looked at her closely and said, 'Those aren't bags, those are your breasts.'

She said, 'Well, I guess there's no point in asking about the goatee.'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eileen and her husband Bob went for counseling after 25 years of marriage. When asked what the problem was, Eileen went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 25 years they had been married.

She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.

Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and after asking Eileen to stand, embraced her, unbuttoned her blouse and bra, put his hands on her breasts and massaged them thoroughly, while kissing her passionately as her husband Bob watched with a raised eyebrow!

Eileen shut up, buttoned up her blouse, and quietly sat down while basking in the glow of being highly aroused.
The therapist turned to Bob and said: 'This is what your wife needs at least three times a week. Can you do this?'

Bob thought for a moment and replied, 'Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I play golf!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Catholic priest, an Indian doctor, a rich Chinese businessman and an Italian from New Jersey were waiting one morning for a particularly slow group of golfers in front of them.

The Italian from New Jersey fumed,
'What's with those jerks? We're waiting fifteen minutes between shots!'
The Indian doctor chimed in, 'I don't know, but I've never seen such poor golf!'
The Chinese businessman called out, 'Move it, time is money!'
The Catholic priest said, 'Here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with him. Excuse me, sir!' said the priest, 'What's wrong with that group ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?'
The greens keeper replied, 'Oh, yes. That's a group of blind fire fighters. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free anytime.'

The group fell silent for a moment.

The Catholic priest said, 'That's so sad. I think I will say a special prayer for them tonight.'

The Indian doctor said, 'Good idea. I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist colleague and see if there's anything that he might be able to do for them.'

The Chinese businessman replied, 'I think I'll donate $50,000 to the fire fighters union in honor of these brave souls!'

The Italian from New Jersey said, 'Why the hell can't they play at night??

To my darling husband,

Before you return from your overseas trip I just want to let you know about the small accident I had with the pick up truck when I turned into the driveway.

Fortunately I didn't get hurt, so please don't worry about me. I was coming home from Greenwood Avenue and when I turned into the driveway I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake.

The garage door is slightly bent but the pick up fortunately came to a halt when it bumped into your Ferrari. I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me because you love me so much.

I am enclosing a picture for you.

Your loving wife.

P.S. Your girlfriend phoned.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the first day, God created the dog and said:

Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.

The dog said: That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?

So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:

Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.

The monkey said: Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?

And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said:

You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.

The cow said: That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years.. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?

And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created humans and said:

Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.

But the human said: Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?

Okay, said God, You asked for it.

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family.. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service.

Have a great weekend, get out of your basement and enjoy summer! Me, I'll be weeding the garden.

Desperately Seeking A Doctor!

The NDP think our health care system is close to perfect. The Liberals think our health care system is??? Who knows what the Liberals think today. The Conservatives are too chicken to actually change anything for fear of losing the next election.

Canada’s health care better only than America's: report

Canadian health care ranks second to last compared with seven industrialized nations, according to a recent report by a private U.S. foundation that monitors and researches international health-care systems.

All I can say to that, is what took you so long to figure out that our health care system, is broken? I haven't had a doctor since my youngest was born 14 years ago, and I only had one then because I was a "high" risk pregnancy, code for too old to be having a normal baby.

My doctor retired, my kids doctor retired, and nobody replaced them, we were left hanging, and that's how we remain. We use the medi-centers because that is the only option left to us unless we want to go to an emergency room for medical attention. It is really disgraceful. It is broken, and I don't care what the politicians think, I know that we are getting shitty care. As a matter of fact, we are not getting any personal care whatsoever!

Am I shocked that our level of health care is only marginally better than the US? Not at all! What I would like to know is where do all our health care dollars go?

I Feel The Earth Move Under My Feet!

I feel the earth move under my feet....

Moderate 5.0 earthquake shakes Ontario, Quebec, and U.S.

Glad no one was hurt. The comments are interesting to read.

I was just talking with my kids and their friends today about what 2012 might hold for us, we all agreed we would just have to wait and see. It's interesting to see them maturing and thinking about more than just themselves. They were supposed to be over to study science, so our discussion covered everything from osmosis to global warming, to sun spots, to polar bears, to fresh water, to Edgar Cayce, to Ouija boards and black magic, to creation and God. It was an entertaining and enlightening discussion. Oh, and the young ones aren't buying into that global warming thingy! Good for them.

I feel the sky tumbling down....

News of the quake took me back to Black Friday in Edmonton when the tornado hit, then I saw that Ontario also had one today. Again, thankfully no one was seriously hurt.

Midland, Ontario ravaged by possible Tornado

Made me think of this song....

Makes you realize how big our universe is, and what little specks on the earth we really are, and how powerless we are against mother nature.

BAN All Tankers And Ships!

Seriously, let's not discriminate here, all ships are a danger to the environment, and planes and off shore oil wells, and Liberals.

Let me get this straight. Tankers from Saudi Arabia are allowed to deliver oil to Quebec and Ontario, and it's not a problem, but tankers taking Alberta/Sask oil to China and India is a big no no? Is Iggy serious? Send Canadian money for blood oil out of the country, and DO NOT allow Canadians to sell their oil? This might get them some green and separatist votes, but will kill western Canada, the only engine supporting Ontario and Quebec.

Maybe we should lobby for a law that restricts the east from importing oil from other countries? That would be fair. If the west can't export our own oil to anyone we want, kind of like our farmers can't sell their own wheat, why should the east be able to export their wheat to anyone they want AND import oil from any country they want? Kind of unbalanced there don't you think?

Why doesn't the east buy our oil? The only way we could get them to do that was when Trudeau imposed the National Energy Program on the west so that we HAD to sell our oil to the east at 85% of the world price. It still ticks westerners off.

Iggy, maybe you should check with Mo Strong on this policy, you see, China has invested heavily in the oil sands and I'm pretty sure they expect to get their oil delivered by tanker to them. It's called the free market.

Even lefty Martin of the NP thinks it's a bad policy.

Don Martin: Fear behind Ignatieff’s oil tanker policy

While oil tankers now prowl Canada’s east and west coasts and roll up the St. Lawrence River to Montreal without the public giving it a second thought, Ignatieff’s plan would banish tankers from a safer port in northern B.C. and kill much-needed jobs and investment in the region.

Ignatieff’s vow, should he ever become prime minister, singles out for a ban one vital link — between the oil sands and China’s voracious energy thirst — that would give the oil sands a competitive alternative to an America that views the resource as dirty energy to be priced at a discount.

Environmentalists will never be happy until we are all living in caves, and it appears that's where the Liberals want westerners. Talk about divisive politics, the Liberals have that down pat.

Stop Paul Martins coal ships too then Iggy. Coal is a bigger pollution problem then oil and gas, but the Liberals are quiet about that. Shut down those coal mines, shut down the oil sands (which Iggy says he supports, but not allowing tankers would shut development down), shut down forestry, shut down the asbestos industry, keep western farmers chained to the Canadian wheat board, stop exporting potash, stop diamond mining, the list is endless.

Funny how it's the oil sands that lefties are targeting again. If the US thinks the oil sands are "dirty" and stop importing, then China and India are our next best markets, but no tankers means no oil exports. It's ridiculous. It's ill thought out. It's typical lefty policy, support the special interest groups and give no thought to Canadians and the jobs this policy would kill. Most of all, it is divisive. Shame.

World Class Toronto......

Or not! So far all I have seen reported from the center of the universe, Toronto, is that they do not want the G20 meeting there.

Why not? They didn't seem to have a problem when the unions stunk the city up with garbage. The Tamil Tiger protests shut down huge parts of Toronto, and that was okay, but world leaders coming to Toronto is a problem?

Has Toronto forgotten that trade with these countries is important to Canada? Maybe Toronto should twin up with Haiti instead, they can trade union eggheads for sandy beaches. Haiti needs the business, and nobody will miss some lefty union activists.

Lorne Gunter: If G20 leaders insist on continuing to meet, let them go to a remote base

You say you like the idea of Canada being in charge of the summit every once in a while. Then we could use CFB Suffield in Alberta. It’s 1,500-square kilometres of prairie used by British and Canadian armies to train for desert tank combat. Aside from a few thousand antelope, there is no one around,so no one to toss a Molotov cocktail and no window to toss it at. Sure, Suffield doesn’t have a full-length runway, but one could be built for far less money than the $1B+ being spent to host the Toronto meeting.

I've been to Toronto, but it is years ago, it was cold, impersonal, and culture-less. I don't imagine that much has changed. The money being spent is going to Canadians. We will see beyond the artless scenes to the benefits, but bland, is bland.

Free University, Free Housing, Free Drugs!

That's the lefty mantra. Free anything for votes. How realistic is all this free stuff?

Not very. Let's take free university as an example. Only 75% of high school kids graduate. What would happen if those 75% got free tuition? Salaries would go down, because many university jobs are non-union.

Lets talk about lawyers. We already have too many of them because they have no quotes, so the value of a law degree is depreciated. Imagine everyone who wants to go to university can because of no tuition. All those university students shouting for free everything, would get nothing because their degrees would become useless, just like an arts degree is today.

If everyone gets into university, the degree becomes worthless.

Friday Night Funnies: Curtis and Leroy

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frozen Crabs & the Blonde Stewardess

A lawyer boarded an airplane in New Orleans with a box of frozen crabs and asked a blond stewardess to take care of them for him.

She took the box and promised to put it in the crew's refrigerator. He advised her that he was holding her personally responsible for them staying frozen, mentioning in a very haughty manner that he was a lawyer, and proceeded to rant at her about what would happen if she let them thaw out.

Needless to say, she was annoyed by his behavior. Shortly before landing in New York, she used the intercom to announce to the entire cabin, "Would the lawyer who gave me the crabs, in New Orleans, please raise your hand.

Not one hand went up .... so she took them home and ate them.

Two lessons here:

1.Lawyers aren't as smart as they think they are.
2. Blonds aren't as dumb as most folk think.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MEN HAVE BETTER FRIENDS THAN WOMEN

Friendship between Women:
A woman didn't come home one night. The next day she told her husband
that she had slept over at her girlfriend's house.
The man called his wife's 10 best friends.
None of them knew about it.

Friendship between Men:
A man didn't come home one night. The next day he told his wife that he
had slept over at a buddy's house.
The woman called her husband's 10 best friends.
Eight of them confirmed that he had slept over, and two claimed that he
was still there.

Curtis & Leroy saw an ad in the Toronto Star Newspaper in Toronto, Ont and bought a mule for $100.

The farmer agreed to deliver the mule the next day.

The next morning the farmer drove up and said, "Sorry, fellers, I have some bad news, the mule died last night."

Curtis & Leroy replied, "Well, then just give us our money back.."

The farmer said, "Can't do that. I went and spent it already."

They said, "OK then, just bring us the dead mule."

The farmer asked, "What in the world ya'll gonna do with a dead mule?"

Curtis said, "We gonna raffle him off."

The farmer said, "You can't raffle off a dead mule!"

Leroy said, "We shore can! Heck, we don't hafta tell nobody he's dead!"

A couple of weeks later, the farmer ran into Curtis & Leroy at the Co-Op grocery store and asked:

"What'd you fellers ever do with that dead mule?"
They said,"We raffled him off like we said we wuz gonna do."

Leroy said,"Shucks, we sold 500 tickets fer two dollars apiece and made a profit of $898."

The farmer said,"My Lord, didn't anyone complain?"

Curtis said, "Well, the feller who won got upset. So we gave him his two dollars back."

Curtis and Leroy now work for the government.

They're overseeing McGinty's Harmonization Sales Tax Plan.

The U.S. government at work………

For those of you who have never traveled to the west, or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area. For some reason the cattle will not step on the "guards," probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.

A few months ago, President Obama received and was reading a report that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado. Colorado ranchers had protested his proposed changes in grazing policies, so he ordered the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the “cattle” guards immediately!!

Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to straighten him out, Vice-President, Joe Biden, intervened with a request that…. before any “cattle” guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining.

And these guys are running our country, OMG!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, 'If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon..'

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating:

If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part):

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash.........twice a day.

2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4. Occasionally, executing a manoeuvre such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five per cent of the roads.

6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single 'This car has performed an illegal operation' warning light.

I love the next one!!!

7. The airbag system would ask,'Are you sure?' before deploying.

8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10. You'd have to press the 'Start' button to turn the engine off.

PS - I'd like to add that when all else fails, you could call ' customer service ' in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign language how to fix your car yourself!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Libby... Now That Reminds Me!

We have all seen the video of Libby having a Helen Thomas moment, but it made me remember this little gem:

Insite promotes drug dependency, and so apparently does NDP MP Libby Davies. Now, that's okay, it's her opinion, but she accuses the Conservatives of getting their facts wrong, when it is crystal clear she is the one who is wrong. All Canadians, but especially Chinese Canadians deserve an apology from Libby and the NDP.

Libby blowing it out of her butt
, without any idea about what actually went on at the protest she attended. She was also attending a protest when she made her anti-Israel comments. Is that all she does? Protest against anything Conservative or Jewish?

She just slipped up by saying it in front of a camera, but what it did was expose the NDP philosophy. Support terrorists like Hamas because you are so sure that they are right and our military are wrong. Support the flotilla because they say they only want to get goods to Gaza, and totally ignore the terrorists who attacked the Israeli solders. Denigrate anything Conservative, while failing Christan people in Afghanistan.

Why? To pander to their voters? Or is liberalism really that warped? Libby is a prime example of leftism.

Taxpayer Money Found.

Seriously, who thinks Canadian artists deserve taxpayer money? Only Canadian artists! My kid plays a mean trombone, does that qualify him for a subsidy/grant? Does playing it on a street corner qualify for funding? How about theater performances, can I get funding if I create the organic (not orgasmic) carrot documentary? Oh, well, I'm just being silly. Or not.

The lefty media is taking aim at Alberta again...why am I not surprised? They must get the heebie jeebies just thinking about Alberta. They better look closely at the MLA they are targeting, because it would be an easy HRC case to claim hate speech against him.

Alberta Culture Minister defends criticism of home-grown television

“I sit here as a government representative for film and television in the province of Alberta and I look at what we produce and if we’re honest with ourselves, why do I produce so much shit? Why do I fund so much crap?,” Lindsay Blackett, Minister of Culture and Community Spirit, told an industry panel at the Banff World Television Festival. “Why aren’t broadcasters picking up more Canadian content? It’s because Canadian content isn’t what it should be.”

Banff? Right that center for the Arts that is internationally recognized. Subsidized by Albertans for garbage like this:

Artist: Kiss and Tell

Confronting Bodies: Ken Kowalski, Alberta Deputy Premier and others

Date of Action: 14 November 1992

Specific Location:

Description of Artwork: ""Much Sense: Erotics and Life" was an exhibition at the Walter Phillips Gallery at the Banff Centre for the Arts. As part of the exhibition, the Vancouver-based performance troupe Kiss and Tell presented "True Inversions," a performance work with lesbian themes and simulated woman-woman sex.

Description of Incident: A nationally syndicated column by Rick Bell in the Alberta "Report of 7" (December 1992) blasted the Banff Centre for spending tax dollars on the series. "Banff hosted the latest in subsidized 'alienation' and lesbian porn... As usual, the money for this free-admission spectacle came from the empty coffers of indebted governments." (Bell/Alberta Report). The article touched off a year long controversy on arts spending in Alberta. Alberta Deputy Premier Ken Kowalski fumed, "Every once in a while they do some of these things that are God-awful in my humble opinion. This is the third (controversial show) I've had to deal with, this abhorrent lesbian show." (Edmonton Sun) Alberta Conservative government officials Dianne Mirosh (community development minister) and Stockwell Day (labor minister) joined the anti-arts funding fracas. Statements by these officials in the national press mobilized the Alberta arts community in a show of support through protest rallies, letter writing campaigns, etc.

Results of Incident: "Provincial funding forms were amended to include a paragraph that said funding could be pulled from any particular project that the government deemed inappropriate." Galleries in Alberta whose presentations came under attack during this controversy did not experience a cut in funding. "It seems to me that because the arts community was so united and so angry and so public, the government did back off. It is always good to see that people actually do have some power in these processes." (Persimmon Blackbridge of Kiss and Tell in an interview with Kerry Kilmartin/Artichoke)

Lets have a protest anytime your funding is cut off. How about taxpayers start protesting our hard earned dollars going to garbage like the above.

What really takes the cake, is that campers can't drink in Banff anymore.

So, we have radical lesbian fake sex acts funded by taxpayers and allowed in Banff because its "art", but don't you dare bring a beer to your campsite. Do lefties even see how ridiculous they are getting? Has common sense died?

Obama As Dictator?

Well it seems NBC thinks that's a solution to the oil spill.

When asked what President Obama needs to do to prove to Americans that his administration is on top of the Gulf cleanup, Ed Schultz pressed that the President needs to call the shots and go "dictator" in his dealings with BP.

"I think the President has to make it very clear to the American people tonight, Chris, that we're not going to be stuck with the bill on this," Schultz said about the BP oil spill.

"When does the President become a dictator on this?" Schultz asked in an outburst. "When does the President start really calling the shots and saying 'This is the number. This is what you're going to pay. We're not going to let you off the hook.'?"

Yikes, and they think PM Harper has strict control over government? NBC is actually calling for Obama to become a dictator....now that is scary!

Canada should welcome SUN TV News! Don't forget to pledge to view, make sure the CRTC knows we are watching them!

And no, Libby doesn't have to go, she should stick around to remind us of what the NDP really stands for, and it's not tolerance. It's about time rabble got some bad press. They have been more offense than anything you would find at freedominion.ca yet it is freedominion that has had the legal problems along with Ezra, and other free speakers. Where is the HRC hiding? Why do they deserve our money? What purpose do they serve?

Time to shine a light on the blood sucking leeches and cockroaches that have been hiding in the dark...time for the Conservative light to shine down on them.

I'm Sick Of Politicians and the MSM!

Time for them to go on their summer break. At least at home in their ridings they might actually help a constituent or two.

Someone tell me what they have accomplished this session? Seriously, I can't point to a single bill that actually got passed that I thought was a good thing. I remember the age of consent being raised and I cheered when that bill passed, but that was a very long time ago. What have they been doing besides creating "fake" scandals?

Now the opposition is having an identity crisis and can't figure out if they are just lefties or far left lefties. Libby gives us a big hint of what is in store with the united lefties, and it isn't pretty. Funny how the "tolerant" left always expose themselves for the intolerant people they really are.

A conservative news network? The lefties are already telling us why that's a bad idea, and the CRTC hasn't even approved the license yet. I'm assuming that Kory released the details early so the CRTC couldn't deny them without us peons knowing about it. If Al Jazeera can broadcast in Canada, a conservative station better be approved or the CRTC is going to hear about it, and I suspect they want to keep their jobs.

I think ALL politicians should stick their heads in the "fake" lake and we will see who is smart enough to come up for air, because right now, I'm not sure any of them deserve to get re-elected.

Do Not Be Afraid.

Do Not Be Afraid of

- mentioning that you are a Conservative.
- taking a stand against the lefties, they are wimps.
- voicing your opinion about abortion.
- wanting less government interference in your life.
- saying no to more government supported socialist programs.
- informing Quebec that it needs to get real.
- making an issue of crime.
- letting your MP know that they are responsible to us, not their party.

Do not be afraid of polls.

I looked at the latest Ekos poll, and found this very interesting.

Look at the under 25 category, a majority would vote Conservative. This bodes well for the future. As for the government going in the right direction? Quebec slants the numbers. They are so used to sucking at the governments teat that they just can't imagine standing up on their own. Good luck with separating, if you don't want to go, the rest of Canada wants you to leave! I suggest we hold a Canada wide referendum, because socialist Quebec will be booted out of Canada so fast, they won't know why they were complaining in the first place. Let the whining begin.

Do not be afraid of standing up for what you believe in. Make your voice heard. Don't wait for the next election to get involved.

Friday Night Funnies: Iggy vs. Greyhound

I'm not sure but I think Iggy is the skunk!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sometime this year, we taxpayers will receive an ' HST Compensation'' payment.

This is indeed a very exciting program, and I'll explain it by using a Q & A format:

Q. What is an 'HST Compensation' payment ?

A. It is money that the provincial government will send to taxpayers.

Q.. Where will the government get this money ?

A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money ?

A. Only a smidgen of it.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment ?

A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?

A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the economy by spending your compensation cheque wisely:

* If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China or Sri Lanka ...

* If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs.

* If you purchase a computer, it will go to India , Taiwan or China .

* If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico , Honduras and Guatemala ..

* If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea .

* If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan .

* If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go
to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in Canada by:

1) Spending it at yard sales, or

2) Going to hockey games, or

3) Spending it on prostitutes, or

4) Beer or

5) Tattoos.

(These are the only Canadian businesses still operating in Canada. )

Conclusion:

Go to a hockey game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a yard
sale and drink beer all day !

No need to thank me, I'm just glad I could be of help.

Which side of the fence?
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Conserative doesn't like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Liberal will delete it because he's "offended".
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And finally, to leave you laughing.....

Have a great weekend...I'm going golfing, then watching my garden grow!

A Fox in the Hen House!

CBC is hyperventilating because they might get some competition. The hens are all running around unable to lay any eggs because they are panicked that a fox might grab their eggs (viewers). Why the panic? If you only have 700 viewers, and around 2% of the market, no one cares what happens to you. Plus, they are taxpayer funded so even if no one is watching them, they will still exist.

I think CTV should be the most worried. They need viewers so they can get advertisers and make a profit. They are at risk of having 30% of their viewers leaving the station.

What amazes me is that some lefties are so scared they are already calling for a ban. The station isn't even approved yet, but they are already demonizing it. Typical lefties, only their opinions are allowed to exist.

Funny how no lefties protested Al Jazzera being allowed in Canada, but a semi-conservative station can't be allowed to exist. Are lefties just stupid, or do they not even see their own hypocrisy.

Quebecor planning 24-hour right-leaning network

The title says it all, they just have to alert everyone that it is a "right-leaning" network. Does anyone ever call CBC or CTV "left-leaning"? HA! Thought not.

Quebec billionaire Pierre Karl Péladeau is attempting a major shakeup of television news in Canada, with plans to launch a 24-hour cable channel modelled on the right-leaning U.S. network Fox News.

It is a shot aimed directly at CBC and CTV, which for years have dominated the all-news format in English Canada. For months, Mr. Péladeau's Montreal-based media empire, Quebecor Inc., has been putting together plans for a channel that will tap the same conservative sentiment that has made Fox News a major contender for ratings in the U.S.

It appears that CBC and CTV don't like competition. But really when CTV admits that it's all about gossip, what do you expect?

Bring it on! Let the power of capitalism shine.

Teaparties To The South of Us, Mergers in the North!

So, the US has it's tea party people, wanting to get back to the constitution and feeling proud of being an American.

We, have the merger people, wanting to get back to power no matter what it costs, with no concern about Canada. Can the Liberals not see what the Canadian people are seeing right now? Disorder, disruption, and disaster for the Liberal party. If my boys were fighting over the Xbox, neither would get to play it.

Will the Liberals merge with the NDP? Or, will we get an after election coalition that excludes the winning party, like they tried last time? I remember when we killed the PC party. I was upset because I could never vote Liberal after the NEP, and the NDP were just too radical for me. I thought I would have no party to vote for, and then I heard about the Reform party, and I found a new home. When the parties merged, I was happy to see the right unite.

Will the same thing happen with a Liberal/NDP alignment? Can my Liberal parents feel comfortable with a new, Trudeauless party? Will a far left NDP'er feel at home with the Liberals? Lefties are arguing that a merger of Liberals/NDP would be just like the Conservative merger. Wrong. Reform and PC's had the base grounding of conservatism to rely on. We were the same party, with the same philosophy, that's why it worked.

This appears to be a get rid of Iggy ploy. Liberals will continue to blame everyone except themselves. If Iggy is being pushed out, I have a suggestion for him. Cross the floor with enough Liberal MP's to secure a majority for the Conservatives. That will give everyone a 4 year cool down, and destroy any coalition/merger option in the works. It would be the only way that Iggy could get some payback for all the backstabbing that has been going on in his own party. It would stop Rae and Powercorp, and it would force the Liberals to actually look at what they have become. Sleazy comes to mind.

Hillary Gets Slapped!

You know all the bowing and sniveling that Obama has been doing for the Arabs? You know how Obama has been smacking America's friends, like Israel by refusing to be photographed with Benjamin? It seems that it is sinking in to other countries that America is weak.

Maybe it was something she didn't say.

Peruvian President Alan Garcia Perez walked out on Secretary Hillary Clinton on Monday during a joint news conference in Lima, Peru, creating an awkward moment for the secretary of state.

Now, if I remember correctly, the Canadian media made a huge issue out of PM Harper being late for a photo op. It was, like a national embarrassment. I wonder if the American media is going to make an issue out of the slap in the face that Hillary got from the President of Peru, or will they bury it?

The White House denied Netanyahu the red carpet treatment generally afforded to visiting heads of state.

The Israeli prime minister and Obama didn’t pose for photos together, and Netanyahu was excluded from dinner with the president Tuesday night.

When Netanyahu wouldn’t agree to concessions, Obama left a meeting with him, though he invited Netanyahu to stay at the White House, talk to Obama advisers and “let me know if there is anything new,” a U.S. congressman who spoke to Netanyahu, told The Times of London.

“It was awful,” the congressman said.

One Israeli newspaper called the meeting “a hazing in stages,” conducted in such an adversarial environment that the Israeli delegation eventually left, worried that their White House phone conversations were being bugged.

Pay back time I guess. Talk about arrogant. Is that a requirement to be a progressive? Arrogant and elitist, the definition of a Liberal. Obama showed how juvenile he is by his behaviour towards Netanyahu. What worries me is that Israel's opponents (which seems to be the whole world) are now emboldened and might feel that they can assault Israel without any consequences.

Who will stand with Israel? So far Canada is a firm friend, but will the Conservatives wimp out like they did with our troops? Will a majority mean more to PM Harper than being a true friend to a country that is under daily fire from Muslims? Will the Conservatives stand firm or will they fold under pressure from the opposition?

This is a true test for the Conservative government. Do they have the balls to continue supporting a nation that is under constant fire from every nation around them? How about Canada sends one of our ships to escort the Israeli flotilla bound for Turkey.

Why did the Peruvian President feel it was acceptable to leave Hillary at the podium? He knew that Obama is weak, and that America has no power. All the despots are taking advantage of the weakness of America under Obama. Can we all survive another two years of Obama? All I can say is good job Peru!

An Open Letter To Helen Thomas

This is a must read, An Open Letter To Helen Thomas. It presents the Jewish side of the argument that the MSM is refusing to report.

Dear Ms. Thomas, I read on numerous Web sites the remarks attributed to you (and I did not see any denial) that we, the Jews must “get the hell out of Palestine” and “go home” to Germany or Poland. I am convinced that you are aware of the events which took place during the years 1939-1945 but, to be certain, I think it appropriate to tell you a little about my parents and their families.

Just like Helen Thomas was forced to retire for her bad behavior, all those "freedom fighters" need to be called on their actions. If Iran does send their boats as escorts, those "freedom fighters" will be responsible for starting a new war, but they won't see it that way. It also clearly shows that they are not concerned about the people living in Gaza.

The MSM has an agenda, they are so progressive that they feel okay with making terrorists into "freedom fighters". Look at these cropped pictures that Reuters used in some of their recent news coverage. All they are missing is the green helmet guy. (H/T Comments)

The media is unbalanced. It disgusts me that Helen Thomas was until today, the head journalist at the Whitehouse. She was what all journalists aspired to be. We can probably write her off as suffering from dementia, or not. Why give her an excuse to look better. With Reuters photo shopping pictures, can anyone actually believe in the media anymore?

Power By Stealth!

When Conservatives thought their party had gone astray, they refused to vote for it and that led to a political wipe out leaving only 2 MP's. This enabled them to rebuild. It was a quick decisive death. It took 10 years to rebuild, but rebuild they did.

Liberal party supporters are not so smart, they are killing their party with their slow withdrawal of support. They are still Liberals, but they will not support their own party with $$$$. They will not look at their party and rebuild, they are too intent on keeping the old fights alive and dividing their own party. That's perfectly fine by me.

The Liberals are blaming their leader, Iggy, but that is distracting them from the real problem, no moral direction. They present no real opposition to the Conservatives, and they are moving rapidly to the left.

A coalition is being toted as having the confidence of the house, but it will not have the confidence of Canadians no matter how many times they tell us it is constitutional. Iggy has finally come out with his position (not necessarialy the Liberal party position) and I await his recanting in about a week.

I think Ignatieff has it exactly right, and it’s as I’ve been arguing for some time now. Don’t get bogged down in pre-election coalition speculation. Run hard to win in all 308 ridings. But don’t rule out a post-election coalition or other arrangement. If we don’t make the point now that it’s a legitimate possibility then it won’t be on the table down the road, and we’re limiting our options. And he was absolutely correct to rule-out any sort of merger or pre-election arrangement, and also signal working with the BQ wasn’t in the cards.

Right, run to win, but tell everyone that if you don't win, you will form a coalition with the socialists and separatists to gain the power the voters denied your party. Someone is smoking something stronger than a cigarette. This commenter has the essence of Iggy's position down to a tee.

Kosman

Power by vote if possible but power by stealth if necessary?
In other words our democracy is a joke where the two losers can always form government unless there is a clear majority throwing out our entire history of Parliament and fair play.
Your a tool Jedras and I'd challenge any coalition not on the ballet as legitimate on the throne of Parliament, you can't elect a newly formed party, group, coalition(another name for grouping)or organization not on the ballet. sorry.

Kosman is who the opposition parties should be listening to, "power by stealth", that is exactly what Canadians are upset about. A coalition after an election is a blatant attempt to grab "power by stealth". To the voters, it smacks of dishonesty.

Run as a coalition, don't say you will not run as a coalition, but if you lose, then you will band together to take down the newly elected government. Talk about a hidden agenda!

My advise, stop voting for the Liberals, this will force them to rethink what they stand for, because right now they stand for nothing on top of having no moral compass.

"Power by Stealth", what an excellent description of what the Liberals are planning for the next election. Canadians will not buy it.

Friday Night Funnies: Sexual Harassment

Late night, my oldest boy had "Big Band Night" and he got to wear a tux....makes a mother just about cry to see them so mature looking. He wears the tux again tomorrow for the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Navy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SAYING GOODBYE TO MOTHER......

You don't have to own a cat to appreciate this one! You don't even have to like 'em!

We were dressed and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on, covered our pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard. We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and we opened the front door to leave the house. The cat we put out in the back yard, scoots back into the front door.
We didn't want the cat shut in the house because she always tries to eat the bird. My wife goes out to the taxi, while I went inside to get the cat. The cat runs upstairs, with me in hot pursuit. Waiting in the cab, my wife doesn't want the driver to know that the house will be empty for the night. So, she explains to the taxi driver that I will be out soon, 'He's just going upstairs to say Goodbye to my mother.'

A few minutes later, I get into the cab. 'Sorry I took so long,' I said, as we drove away. 'That stupid bitch was hiding under the bed. I had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off, so I grabbed her by the neck. Then, I had to wrap her in a blanket to keep her from scratching me. But it worked! I hauled her fat ass downstairs and threw her out into the back yard!

The cab driver hit a parked car.

Moral: Make sure your stories match!!

A Missouri farmer in his pickup, drove to a neighbor's, and knocked at the door. A boy, about 9, opened the door
"Is your Dad home?"
"No sir, he isn't; he went to town."
"Well, is your Mother here?"
"No sir, she went to town with Dad."
"How about your brother, Howard? Is he here?"
"No sir, He went with Mom and Dad."
The rancher stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to the other, and mumbling to himself.
"Is there anything I can do for you? I know where all the tools are, if you want to borrow one, or I can give dad a message."
"Well," said the rancher uncomfortably, "I really wanted to talk to your Dad. It's about your brother Howard getting my daughter, Suzie, pregnant."'
The boy thought for a moment. "You would have to talk to Dad about that. I know he charges $500 for the bull and $50 for the hog, but I don't know how much he charges for Howard."

Psychiatrists vs. Bartenders
Ever since I was a child, I've always had a fear of someone under my
bed at night.

So I went to a shrink and told him . . . 'I've got problems. Every
time I go to bed I think there's somebody under it. I'm scared. I
think I'm going crazy.'

'Just put yourself in my hands for one year,' said the shrink. 'Come
talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get rid of
those fears..'

'How much do you charge?'

'Eighty dollars per visit,' replied the Doctor..

'I'll sleep on it,' I said.

Six months later the doctor met me on the street. 'Why didn't you ever
come to see me about those fears you were having?' he asked.

'Well, eighty bucks a visit three times a week for a year is an awful
lot of money! A bartender cured me for $10. I was so happy to have
saved all
that money that I went and bought me a new pickup!'

'Is that so!' With a bit of an attitude he said, 'and how, may I ask,
did a bartender cure you?'

'He told me to cut the legs off the bed! Ain't nobody under there
now!'

SCREW THOSE SHRINKS.. GO HAVE A DRINK & TALK TO YOUR BARTENDER!

Canadian humour!!

A big earthquake with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale hits Pakistan. Two million Pakistanis died
and over a million injured. The country is totally ruined and the government doesn't know where to start
with providing help to rebuild.

The rest of the world is in shock. The USA is sending troops to help. Saudi Arabia is sending oil. Latin American countries are sending supplies. New Zealand is sending sheep, cattle and food crops. The Asian continents are sending labour to assist in rebuilding infrastructure. Australia is sending medical teams and supplies. Canadians, not to be outdone, are sending two million replacement Pakistanis.

God Bless Canadian generosity!

Dirty Subsidies!

One of the biggest hammers used against the oil sands is subsidies. Supposedly oil is heavily subsidized, or not!

Oil isn’t subsidized

A leaked Finance Canada memo last week raises the possible curtailment of corporate tax write-offs for exploration, development and flow-through shares. Again, the subsidy issue is at the heart. In the new world of clean energy, tax subsidies for wind, solar and bio-diesel seem perfectly acceptable, no matter their size or effectiveness. Fossil fuels are another matter, even if more than 80% of energy comes from these sources.

It seems that Ontario can subsidize the heck out of "green" energy, and no one says boo, but the same can't be said about Alberta energy. That sick east west divide started by the Trudeau Liberals is still alive and festering.

So, who are funding the "greens"?

With about $20-billion in assets, a handful of U.S. foundations give out about $1.2-billion in grants every year. Over the past decade these foundations have pumped over $100-million into the environmental movement in B.C. Canadian environmental organizations justify this arrangement by calling it foreign investment in Canada.

Some Canadian environmental groups have become largely dependent on these U.S. donors. The result is that the voices of small rural communities and organizations can be drowned out by paid operatives of Canadian-based organizations that are tapping into the deep pockets of American foundations.

And in Ontario it is the taxpayer that is on the hook for "green" energy.

Passed in May 2009 as part of the Act, Ontario’s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program offers a guaranteed long-term pricing structure for producers building wind farms, solar power and renewable biogas. Depending on the method of power generation, the prices offered range from 11.1¢ per kilowatt hour to 80.2¢ for a 20-year period.

Because the prices paid for energy produced by FIT projects far surpasses the current market value of 6.5¢ per kilowatt hour for electricity in Ontario, producers need to prove a certain percentage of the project cost was spent inside the province. To qualify, solar-based projects need to be 50% made-in-Ontario (to become 60% next year) and wind-based projects need to be 25% made-in-Ontario (to become 50% in 2012).

If I lived in Ontario, I would be really concerned about paying 5 to 75 cents more for my power. Who is gaining by all these subsidized programs? Big energy companies like General Electric. So, taxpayers are paying extra so that GE can gain more profits, and the "progressives" don't care. The NDP yap about "green" energy all the time, and it is going to hit the disadvantaged the hardest. Why would they be pushing higher energy costs? UNIONS.

So, who is getting the "dirty" subsidies? Look no further than the "green" energy sector. It's a big money grabbing scheme.

Dr. Mauser Rips Ms Cukier A New Bullet Hole!

Up at my Uncles farm, you needed to have a gun in your truck because of the black bears. I'm sure many of the gun registry supporters have never come face to face with anything bigger than the neighbourhood tomcat. They also seem to think gang members register their guns. Are they intentionally dense, or just stupid? Ms. Cukier is a gun hater. She thinks registering farmers long guns is going to cure the world of crime. Funny, just today a nut case in Britain killed 12 people and they have some of the toughest gun regulations around.

Dr. Mauser totally destroys Ms. Cukier's 10 points. I am posting his executive summary because it is so dead on.

To: Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security

Re: Bill C-391 - Countering Ten Misleading Claims

Executive summary

Bill C-391 is a simple and straightforward bill that proposes to dismantle the long-gun registry for non-restricted long guns, nothing more. Bill C-391 leaves in place the rest of Canada's gun control regime, including the requirement to obtain a licence, the screening of applicants, the requirement to register restricted and prohibited long guns, the need to take and pass the firearms safety course, and the rules on safe storage and transportation of firearms.

The evidence demonstrates that the repeal of the long-gun registry will not reduce public safety in Canada and may even improve it. After a brief review of the arguments, I examine and rebut the key points in the Coalition's letter sent to MPs on October 20, 2009.

The statistics provided here clearly shows that the long-gun registry has not been effective in reducing criminal violence and most especially that it has not saved lives. The multiple murders by shooting that have occurred since the registry was put in place prove that it is a waste of time and money.

Bill C-391 deserves support because the long-gun registry has failed to protect Canadians from gun violence and diverts vital police resources away from more effective efforts. In her report to Parliament, the Auditor General of Canada found that the long-gun registry cost taxpayers at least one billion dollars; later research doubled this estimate. She also noted that the Department had been unable to substantiate whether the long-gun registry had increased public safety or saved lives, which is surely the standard by which any success of the program should be measured.

Every one of the claims made by Ms Cukier made in her October letter to oppose bill C-391 is false or misleading.

In response to the misleading claims made by the Coalition for Gun Control, please consider the following information:

Claim #1: Access to a gun increases the risk of murder.

False: Canadian gun owners are less likely than other Canadians to commit homicide.

Claim #2: Rifles and shotguns are the weapons most likely to be used in domestic homicides.

False: The problem is the murder of family members, not the means of killing. Rifles and shotguns are not the weapons most likely to be used in domestic homicides. Knives are.

Claim #3: Spousal murders with guns have fallen threefold since the law passed, while spousal murders without guns have remained the same.

False: Spousal murders (with and without guns) have slowly been declining since the mid-1970s. There is no empirical support for the claim that the long-gun registry has reduced spousal murders. The long-gun registry was not begun until 2001.

Claim #4: Stronger gun laws have helped reduce gun violence.

False: Ms Cukier's letter begs the question of the effectiveness of gun laws against crime. She is deliberately confuses the date the long-gun registry began with the date the legislation received royal assent.

The rate of homicides committed with a firearm generally declined from the mid-1970s to 2002. This steady, long-term decline has been driven by economic and demographic changes. However, the use of firearms in homicide has increased since 2002.

Claim #5: Firearms stolen from legal owners are a significant source of crime guns. Registration is essential to prevent dangerous individuals from getting guns.

False: All studies of crime guns (or guns used in murders) agree that stolen registered firearms are infrequently involved.

It is the criminal record check, which is part of licensing, and certainly not registration, that stops criminals from getting guns legally. Bill C-391 will not change the current provisions for obtaining a firearms licence. Registration simply refers to the firearm, not the owner.

Claim #6: Firearms pose more problems in smaller cities where there are more gun owners.

False: Homicide is a particularly acute problem in large cities where ironically there are fewer legal gun owners.

Claim #7: The registry is an essential tool for police when taking preventative action and when enforcing prohibition orders to remove firearms from dangerous individuals.

False: The long-gun registry does not contain information on a gun's location. The registry only contains descriptive information about the registered guns.

Rank and file police members do not find the registry useful. In approaching dangerous situations, the police must assume there is a weapon.

Claim #8: The gun registry is consulted by police 10,000 times a day and provides important information.

False: Almost all of the "inquiries" are routinely generated by traffic stops or firearm sales and are not specifically requested; nor do police often find them useful. Almost all of these inquiries involve licensing, not the long-gun registry.

Claim #9: Polls show Canadians believe the gun registry should not be dismantled.

False: Two recent polls show that the public does not support the long-gun registry. This is consistent with at least 11 earlier polls, all of which have clearly demonstrated that the Canadian public has no faith in the long-gun registry or its ability to increase public safety.

Claim #10: Stronger gun laws have helped reduce gun-related death, injury, violence and suicide.

False. No properly designed study has been able to show that gun laws have been responsible for reducing criminal violence rates or suicide rates in any country in the world.

More police officers and better technologies are more effective routes to improving public safety.

In sum, the test of any governmental program should be whether it meets its goals. In this case, the long-gun registry has failed. It has failed to save lives. It has failed to reduce murder, suicide or aggravated assault rates. The long-gun registry continues to cost Canadian taxpayers millions of dollars each year. This money could be better spent on other more useful law enforcement measures, or be directed towards a number of other key priorities for Canadians such as health care.

Read the whole thing because in the full report he provides facts to back up his points, something that Cukier knows nothing about.

I don't own a gun, but I would like the option to carry one. As a female, even a 12 year old kid could overpower me if they wanted to. Am I allowed even pepper spray? Nope, it might hurt the potential rapist. What am I told to do? Don't fight it, and calmly let the rape happen. Do nothing to provoke the attacker. Are you kidding me? We wouldn't want to upset the rapist now would we?

I have a perfectly legal remedy, bear spray. Don't let the politicians know, because they will BAN it.
